I'm a big fan of coffee, I drink it daily. My girlfriend on the other hand... eh, she will only drink coffee if it's an iced caramel latte from dunkin donuts. Well I got sick of paying 5 bucks a pop and figured I could get this and save money and convenience. It's a good idea, don't get me wrong. And the coffee recipes that it came with taste pretty good. BUT, onto the brutally honest part... you would think because it's an iced coffee maker it would just pump out cold coffee, nope! You put a whole tray (or two) of ice into the plastic coffee pot and the coffee comes out like any other coffee maker, hot! And it melts all the ice and then you add more ice to make it an iced latte. Kinda pointless if you ask me, I would have rather just kept my coffee pot now and just added ice when the pot was done. Also one thing that bothered me was the fact that it makes the plastic pitcher look kinda small, but really it's huge and holds like 2 quarts of coffee, enough to quench the thirst of a horse.. if horses drank coffee that is. To be honest I feel as if I wasted 40 bucks on a Christmas present that I could have just used my regular coffee pot for, it's lucky it got two stars..Pro's:Good recipesBig pitcher (save some for later I guess)Cons:Spits out hot coffee instead of coldPitcher is huge (nobody drinks that much at once)Wastes two trays of ice just to get meltedIf you are looking for a cheap way to get McDonald's iced coffee at home this is the machine for you. Being a big fan of the vanilla iced coffee from McDonald's but hate paying an arm and a leg for it I started looking for other options. Options that brought me to this handy little machine. Easy to use just follow a few simple steps the only thing I will say is Google some other recipes because the ones they provide taste nothing like McDonald's. The ones I found that do either include condensed milk or lots of half and half.I am a huge fan of ice coffee and therefore I spend a ridiculous amount of money buying ice coffees from places like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. I decided it's time to start making my own ice coffee so I ordered the Mr. Coffee Ice Coffee maker. Seems like a pretty good idea. It is easy to set up and it makes great coffee. The only downside is that when it makes your delicious coffee it also makes a huge mess all over your counter top. I am not sure what to do to prevent it from leaking everywhere but the mess it makes is driving me crazy. I should have paid closer attention to the reviews because I see this is a common problem. Looks like its back to the drawing board.UPDATE: I switched to the Toddy cold brew system about six months ago and I been in love ever since. In the summer it's a lifesaver. It's easy to use and very convenient because there aren't a lot of parts so clean up is a breeze.Only negative is that darned pitcher. It cracks easily rendering the machine....useless! I've had to replace it three times. I'm trying to find another one today.It's a very very nice coffee maker. I bought it to use for Ice Tea, but - - -it doesn't make enough to last a day for me. Gave it to my daughter who drinks ice coffee and she loves it. I had to buy the actual 3qt ice tea maker that looks just like this machine, but is white. I really really wanted the black one as it's very sleek looking. Hated to give it up, but 2 1/2 qts just isn't enough for a day for me. I'm giving it 5 stars because it definitely is a good machine, just not a big enough pitcher for me.While I absolutely Love this iced coffee maker, this is my SECOND one in about 1 1/2 years. The last machine I had was functioning alright, except for when the hot liquid burned a hole in the plastic pourer, causing major coffee leaks all over the counter every morning. My second machine has also stopped functioning; however, this time it's the actual unit and the coffee now pours out of the top. I was hoping to return this item and get a replacement, as I've only had it for 6 months, but apparently that replacement window only extends two months. I'm not planning on throwing another $35 down the drain on this thing, but may order it from Target because they offer a year (or possibly two) warranty.Doesn't really make iced coffee, but it's a decent product if you don't mind how this is made. I've moved on to cold brew method. This makes coffee like Starbucks (hot brew then they cool it down). Cold brewed coffee is much less acidic than hot brewed coffee and has a smoother taste.My husband had been looking for a large Iced coffee maker for a couple months now. We purchased another brand and it blew the breakers in the kitchen! So we had to return it and keep searching. I came across this one in my searches and I suggested it to him. He said that his other Mr. Coffee coffee maker was really great so we should give this a try. It works beautifully! It brews hot over the ice and comes out perfectly. What we really love is the amount of coffee it brews. I recommend this one!
