The particle board is a nice quality heavy one. I was surprised how much this weighs! I removed one star because one of the pieces arrived cracked in half on one side with a gauge in the other side, but it doesn’t seem to impact the stability or structural integrity of the table (unfortunately the scratches are very visible). It was very easy to assemble, a drill was helpful for attaching the hinges but I could have done it with the provided screwdriver. The lift mechanism is awesome! It soft closes, so no slamming the top down. The expanded table is a great size. This is an awesome piece for my small house with no dining room, very unique! Can’t wait to host dinner and game night!Update: they replaced the cracked piece for free, and even with the table fully assembled already it should be fairly easy to disassembled and replace.It is solid and well boils and heavy but able to slide. The top goes down very slowly and is very safe. It can be wiped off with a wet washcloth and feels like real wood. We absolutely love this table!I only wish it was easier to lift the top up. Even then it’s difficult because it’s so well built and not even on the same realm as Walmart or IKEA.I am not one to write reviews, but in this case I am more than glad to do so. This seller kept me informed and responded to my inquiry fast. Table is great and I am very happy with the whole process from buying till using. Seller is OUTSTANDING and made everything possible to make me one very happy customer.Absolutely wonderful! Assembly wasn't difficult, but a bit complicated.
